ANGLERS in the North West today said they feared for the future of fishing in the River Foyle.

The Foyle Association of Salmon and Trout Anglers warned that fishing stocks are being severely depleted by the continued use of netting in the seas surrounding the North West coast.

And the group is spearheading a new campaign to raise awareness of the danger facing the economy if fishing in the River Foyle is wiped out.

FASTA spokesman Pat McLaughlin said it was vital that more was done to help local anglers.
